Rosie - Let Your Heart Be Glad

Little Rosie - with her nutmeg brown hair and blue eyes.  What a joy to make you.  My little girl is ready for a home and is waiting in my Etsy shop - unless I decide to get her myself!  I really love her.

Oh well, maybe next time.  Meanwhile, the little blonde, blue eye girl is a custom order.  I thought you might want to see her.  It's for a customer who is super excited for the arrival of her granddaughter.  She wanted to get her the first doll.  I hope they love her.

I was going through some blogs and noticed how many give aways there are.  Then started thinking that my last one was exactly a year ago.  Humm, sounds like maybe I should get working on one for this year.

So with that said you all will need to come back and see what I can come up with - something special for all my bloggers and maybe some new ones.

Take care and blessings to all!
Hugs,

Kaylie has her own raggedy doll

I just finished another doll.  This time Kaylie wanted her very own doll, humm, wonder if she knows that she is a doll too?  Lol
This one is also a little larger doll than I normally do - she is 14 1/2 inches and her little one is 7 1/2 inches.  This will probably be my last one for at least two weeks.  I have three custom orders to start working on and next week I am going to try and tackle making some tamales.  This will be my very first time doing it on my own!  Wish me luck!  My husband's mom use to make them every year right before Christmas.  They were delish!   The whole family use to help, but the secret is in the meat filling and the masa.  For those who might not know what masa is - I guess you could say it's the crust that holds the meat.  She would prepare the meat filling and masa ahead of time and next day we would help spread the masa on the corn husks and then fill it with the meat filling (pork).  I know that it might sound a little complicated and it is a lot of work - but I hope to keep the tradition going.  Who knows - maybe one day my granddaughter will want to help me!  Wish me luck!
Have a great weekend!

Ms Kitty with her Kitty-Kat

As mentioned in a previous post - here she is, Ms Kitty.  What else would Ms Kitty request for - but of course her very own little kitten.  By the way, kitten's name is Kitty-Kat.

She is a little larger doll (14 inches) than I normally do.  The pattern is by Susan Dean with Threadbare Primitives.  I also purchase the wool used for some of my dolls from Susan.  Ms Kitty is now in my Etsy Shop.

My next project is a Valentine swap with one of my blogger friends Debby at Cozy Blanket.  I have to make five valentines in a little less than two weeks.  Guess I better get busy.  This should be a fun project.

Until next time - blessings to all!

 Sold - thank you!

My Sewing Clutch

Now that the holidays are over with - what are you all up too?

After finishing two dolls last week I started a little project for myself.  Since I go at least once a week to sit with Mom while Dad runs errands I normally take a small project to work on while visiting her.

I needed a special place to keep my sewing things and saw this cute pattern from "Primitive Quilts and Projects" magazine.   Love that magazine.

This is the front with my initials on top.  I used their pattern for the clutch, but used my own design for the appliqued part.  The clutch is all done in wool.

This is the inside.  A place for needles, pins, scissors and a pocket for small pieces of wool or a pattern.  The object is keeping a place for needles and my small scissors.

Then of course the back side.

Love my little sewing clutch.  It even fits in my purse - now I can carry it anywhere.

Time to think about working on a doll again.  Hummm, thinking about a little girl with a kitten.  Maybe I'll name her Kitty!

Lets see what happens - keep tuned in -  for I'll be back!

Hugs,

New Year - new dolls

Happy New Year to all!

Since being under the weather for the past week I finally was well enough to work on these two dolls for my Etsy shop.

Kylie and Julie - Kylie insisted on a head band and Julie wanted a heart on her apron.  She looks cute for Valentine's Day.

Any New Year's resolutions?  Mine to get organized for the Fall Holiday show.  I use to have an excuse that I worked full time and therefore was stressing at the last two months to get my crafting done.  Now that I'm retired - no excuses anymore!  I plan on working at least 2-3 (depending on the size) projects a week for the show.  You might think that's not enough, but trust me it is.  Besides I have to redo my pantry - clean out my bedroom closet - redo a section of the kitchen (where we will remove a desk that is attached to the wall) - helping my dad take care of my mom and we must not forget my dolls.  That ought to keep me busy.  Thankfully hubby has about a couple of years before he retires.  I seem to get more things done when he is out at work.  Does that happen to you all?

What ever your resolutions might be - good luck to all!  Take care.

         hugs,
