Finally a finished doll... meet Marlee

Here she is - Marlee and her raggedy annie doll.  She was supposed to be finished way before the 4th of July, but things just got in the way.  Like a master bedroom makeover, new floors in the bedroom and the walk-in closet.  So when one paints and adds new flooring in a closet guess what else happens?  Sorting out old clothes (plus those small sizes you once bought and just knew you could fit in after shedding a few pounds!) and shredding old papers that are not needed anymore.  I swear - cleaning the closet out was at least 5 days of work!  Glad that's all over with!

 

Now I can seriously start some Christmas crafting - like the saying goes "Christmas in July!"

 

I better hurry, July is just about coming to an end soon - where does the time fly when your having fun!

Working on my Block of the Month

I'm back, although no new dolls to post, just working on my BOMs.  As posted a while back I started a class that meets once a month.  This is the pattern:

I really enjoy working on this project.  Can't wait until it is all done.  It will measure 50" x 52" when completed and I'm still not sure where it will hang.

 

Meanwhile I've been busy redoing our master bedroom.  Hubby and I painted this weekend.  Wow, I forgot I'm not 30 anymore!  Had a bit of a sore back the last couple of days.  Moving furniture will do that!  In a couple of days we will tackle painting our walk-in closet and then the bathroom.  We would like to have it done before July 6th when it is estimated our wood floors will be installed.  Yes folks, time to rip out the carpet!  You really don't need it here in South Texas weather.

 

Never a dull moment and who said retirement is retirement? 

 

I haven't given up on doll making (yet).  I have a pair of striped legs that just needs a body to attached itself to!  Hopefully soon.  I really had in mind for a patriotic doll, but I don't see that in my crystal ball for this 4th of July!

New Annies - even an Andy!

Happy Monday to all.  I have to confess something. I have been on a terrible funk lately. I have not been enthusiastic for crafting, creating, much less sewing. Has anyone been through this? Is this what they call spring fever? Whatever it is, I need to snap out of it.  I am so behind in getting my crafts ready for the coming fall show.

 

For this doll I drew and painted her eyes just a little different from my usual.  I think it gives her a much different look from my other dolls.

 

 

 

These guys are your average Annie and Andy.  My dolls (when in the mood) normally takes me about 6 or 7 hours to complete.  These two only took me 2 weeks!  Lol 

 

 

Both dolls are available in my Etsy shop.

 

 

Oh well - here's hoping my Mojo comes back soon!  Have a wonderful week and blessings to all.

Sorry, No New Dolls....

Since I hadn't posted in a while, I thought I'd let you all know what I've been up to. This month is flying! Two weekends ago I attended a Christian Women's ACTs Retreat.  I don't know if any of you have ever attended a religious retreat before, but this was my first and I have to tell you it was wonderful.  It can be so emotional, but so uplifting.  It was beautiful.

Next, I joined a Block of the Month group at a nearby quilt shop. We are working on a wool bed cover (which I will hang mine) by Maggie Bonanomi. It consists of both hand-dyed wool and   velveteen.  I had never worked with velveteen before, but can tell you it's been a challenge for me.   I love it and can't wait to have it finish.

 Besides going on that retreat, working on my BOM and custom order dolls - I have been doing a little planting.  Since Spring has finally arrived, I've been working in the yard. 

I love greenery and flowers!
