Bring On The Sunshine!

Sold - thank you
Bring on the sunshine and burst into springtime with the color yellow. Can you just hear the birds singing, and the folks cutting their lawns? I know, some of you might still have some snow on the ground, but I'm ready for the spring time weather, aren't you? So here I am sewing up this buttery yellow cutie which I've named Sunny. I picked up this fabric over the weekend from one of my favorite quilt shops and fell in love with the color. All I could think of was sun shining days and wonderful springtime weather. To see more of Sunny click at my Etsy shop on the side bar.

Here's a hint (which some of you might already know); when buying fabric for your dolls check out your local quilt shops and purchase some fat quarters. A fat quarter is actually a 1/4 of a yard, but cut in a 18"x 22" square. That should be plenty for a dress with some left over for scraps. Normally you can buy some anywhere from $1.50 to $2.00. Just thought I'd share.

Meanwhile, have a wonderful day and remember All Is Bright!.....

We Have a Winner!

First of all, I want to thank all of you for entering the "help me pick a name" contest. There were so many wonderful names that my husband, who I asked to choose one, was having a hard time selecting the winner. In fact, some of your names gave me some great ideas for future dolls! Thanks ladies. OK, enough talk, the name he picked is....

Sissy

Yes, that was entered by Wendy at Ravenwood Whimzies. Wendy said she came up with the name because my doll looked like someones little sister. So Wendy, email me at allisbrightcrafts@yahoo.com with your home address so that I can send you this little blond, blue eyed Angel (pictured above) to you.

Now that she has a name, Sissy is available in my Etsy shop. Once again, thanks to all that entered! Oh, and I just finished this doll that I guarantee will bring some sunshine into your home - come back soon and check her out. Until then....

Hugs to all!

Raggedy Name Contest

Hi blogger friends and any new folks dropping by,

I finished this little cutie Friday and I am now just posting her. I fell in love with her and I'm trying hard to get her in my Etsy shop, but it's so hard! I would really like to keep her. Has that happened to you? Besides getting her in Etsy, I'm having a hard time coming up with a name. Can anybody help me?

I think I'll make this a contest. Who ever comes up with a name fitting for this dolly - I'll reward them with a 9 inch angel doll I just finished! I'm sure your gonna love her! Let's make this a week long contest - so that by next Sunday I will have a name. Sounds like fun, huh! I'll have my hubby pick the winner on March the 27th.

Hope to hear from you!

Hugs,

Something You Might Not Know About Me

Most of my blogger friends know that I love, love creating dolls. And some of you also know that I've raved about working with wool projects. But most of you might not know that before I started making dolls and wool projects I also dabbled in quilting. Yes, that's right. I've made a full size bed quilt for my daughter, a lap quilt for those cool nights and two toddler quilts for my granddaughter. I have a full size bed quilt for my sister-in-law that just needs quilting and it soon will be done. Quilting is fun, but it can take a lot of time, especially if you're working full time.

So, now that you know something new about me, I want to share some of my quilting projects that I've made in the past and use around the house. The fall leaves was one of my first and favorite wall hangings. Each leaf was paper pieced. I took a class for this one.

This welcome wall hanging was fun and easy to do. It hangs in the entry way. Pattern is by Pat Sloan.

The quilt above hangs in a hallway. I love the message "Enjoy the Simple Life". Can you tell I love colors?

The field of flowers is done using colorful felt on a wool background. I saw this in a magazine where they used it as a headboard. Loved it and made a smaller version for my wall. The one with the two cats was from a quilt book. Done so long ago that I don't think I have that book anymore. Each piece was appliqued with a web fusible; therefore easy to do.

I love quilting, but my dolls bring me so much joy. Besides they don't take as long to finish. Instant gratification - yep that's the difference! Hope you enjoyed viewing some of my work. Please check back soon - I'll have an angel doll with a message for you coming up soon.

Hugs,

Purple Simplicity

As I was sewing this doll and her purple flower I thought of the song Purple Rain. Kept humming that tune - then as I started to dress her my thoughts changed to Donny Osmond and his purple socks! Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Purple Rain by Prince and Donny's purple socks. If you don't, then I know I'm getting old!

So from the song to socks and after finishing her up the first thing to come to mind was simplicity - how sweet and simple my little doll looks to me. I couldn't think of a name for her, but I'm sure when she gets adopted someone will give her a fitting name. How simple is that...

Bunny Fufu

As noted in my last post - I hinted that soon I would do a bunny or an angel doll. Well, here we are - Bunny Fufu. None other than a Sweet Meadows Farm pattern. Started working this cutie yesterday and was done in one day! Yes, she is easy and a fun pattern! I will definitely be making one for my granddaughter's Easter basket.

Bunny Fufu is now available in my Etsy shop. Just hop right over and see more of Bunny Fufu!

Kaitlyn and Her Bunny

I'm still in Spring mode. Here is my new doll soon to be in Etsy. Introducing Ms. Kaitlyn and her pet bunny. Kaitlyn never leaves her bunny behind. She even had her creator add a bow on top of her head to match her bow and insisted on a purse for her. You know, somewhere to add some carrots. Looks like she will have to cut those carrots to small bite size. Kaitlyn will not only make a nice Easter decor, but she will look nice all spring and summer.

Two dolls in 4 days - humm, what should I start on next. Maybe a bunny or an angel doll. Check back and see. Meanwhile, stay safe and remember, All is Bright.....

Hugs,

Spring Is Near - Can You Just Smell the Flowers?

Yep my friends - can you just imagine smelling the flowers? I can - so that's what came to my mind when I started working on Emily. Nothing like a pretty flowered spring dress. Emily is now listed in my Etsy shop. She is looking forward to brighten up your day and get you ready for the beautiful sunny days ahead of us. Yes, I know some of you are still buried under snow, but soon my friends it will start getting greener, we'll have blue skies and flowers all around us. Can you tell I'm ready for Spring! Clink below to see more of Emily.
