My Kindred Spirits Stitchery

To all my friends and those who are just dropping by for the first time - here's wishing you a nice Memorial weekend.

I just finished working on a new e-pattern design. It is now posted in my Etsy shop. It's a real simple design and quick to make. Hope you like it.

Yesterday I started working on a raggedy doll with the stitched face. Not sure if I'm real happy with it. Maybe I should just stick to painting the faces on the dolls, lol. What I really need to do is start working on my crafts for the holiday show in Nov.

Every year I tell myself I'm going to get an early start to crafting for the show. Have I? Hummm, do any of you have this same problem? OK, starting tomorrow (since I'm off) I'm going to pull out those Christmas patterns and start working on a few. I hope I do!

Hugs,

Lilah

Happy Tuesday!

Here is the second doll that I had previously posted without any clothes on. This is also a special order for a little girl by the name of Lilah. She too wanted yellow. Hummm, popular color it seems. Hope you like my blue-eyed blonde dolly.

I just finished designing a new pillow. I really like this one and can't wait to start stitching it. I'll be posting the finish product hopefully by the end of the week. I do have two more dolls I need to work on before the first week of June (running out of time!), but doing the stitched patterns is so relaxing. Until next time - happy stitching to all!

Sophia and A New Adventure

Awww, Sophia is finally done and ready to be packed and shipped to her new home. This dolly is going to be a birthday present for a little girl by the name of Sophia. Her grandmother wanted her name on the apron. Yellow was the chosen color to coordinate with her bedroom. Happy Birthday Sophia!

Now for my new adventure. Besides enjoying sewing dolls, I also love stitchery (and can't forget working with wool!). I've wanted to start drawing some stitchery patterns. In fact I have a few that I've done for my Christmas craft show. I sketched the two pillows below and hope to soon sell the pattern in my Etsy shop as an epattern. The pillows are measured 9" x 7" and are very easy to do. I am still working on how to get these patterns set up as an epattern. I hope to have them ready by the end of the week. There are so many ideas going through my head - just finding the time to do it all! I really need to retire soon! I hope you like them.

Until next time...have some more dolls to do for customers and I really want to do a Raggedy Ann doll without the painted eyes soon.

Hugs to all!

Creating Dolls

I'm staying busy! Busy is good, right? I'm working on some custom orders. Here is the first part of creating my dolls. By the way, the pattern I'm using is by Julie from My Raggedy Dolls. Love this pattern. Here is the body ready to be stuffed. I have to admit that stuffing is my least favorite thing to do.
Tada! After the stuffing comes the fun part -- painting the faces. Here is where their personalities come to form. Oops, forgot to put on their pantaloons before snapping a picture.

Next I'll go through my stash of fabrics and pick out colors that they specifically ask for and start the dress making. That's fun too. Their hair is the last thing I do. If the customer ask for short hair or pigtails I'll go with that. If I'm doing one for my Etsy shop, I will fix her hair according to the dress I make. Guess I'll get busy and get these dolls all dressed up. Until then, happy sewing to you!

A Song and A Movie

OK – once again sewing dresses conjures up memories. This time the song that came to mind is Mrs. Brown You Have a Lovely Daughter. Some of you might be thinking, huh? Well, brown dress and Mrs. Brown - makes sense to me – LOL! This was a hit song by Herman Hermits during the invasion of the Beatles; and for some of you young ones, no - the invasion of the Beatles was not a war. By the way, I was definitely a Beatle-maniac! Do we have any Beatle fans out there? It was a cute song that I loved singing as a young girl (very young I might add). Herman Hermits – what silly names they’d come up with, don’t ya think?

The second thought that came to mind was the movie “Pretty Woman” – loved that movie! Remember the beautiful brown & white poka dot dress Julia Roberts wore at the Polo game. This dress reminds me of that scene. Therefore, I’ve named this little cutie Julia. Pretty name, pretty dress, Pretty Woman.

Until next time – if you hear some humming it might be me sewing up another dress. Watch for Julia - soon to appear in my Etsy shop. Until then, have a lovely day, Mrs. Brown….

Hugs,
