New Dolls and A Baby Shower

It was a busy weekend!  My sister, sister-in-laws and I hosted a baby shower this weekend for my niece's first baby coming soon - and it's a girl!  Needless to say there were many pink and ruffles and all the sweet things for a girl.  Geez, it better be a girl! Lol!  It was fun and we had a great time - in fact we played Bunco and what a rowdy time that was - for those who have played Bunco you know what I mean.

 

I worked on these two dolls in between planning and hosting the shower and finished them last night.   The one with her teddy bear is Ollie.  I'm not sure if Ollie is a girl's name (hope it is), but one look at her and that is what came to me.  She just looked like an Ollie.  She requested burgundy boots to match her dress.  Her teddy bear is made of felt and hand sewn.  I attached a rusty bell on his collar. I think she is a sweet little one and that smile just melts my heart.

 

 This blonde green-eyed little one is Heather.  Heather also requested boots just like Ollie's.  She comes with her "live simply" pillow.  Both dolls are in my Etsy shop.

 

Now that I've finished the dolls I have to get back to the Christmas stuff.  For some reason I'm stuck on crafting a lot of snowmen.  I haven't started the Santas yet.  Maybe psychologically it makes me feel cooler working on snowmen!  Since it's still super hot in Texas.   I'm sure looking forward to the cooler weather as I know many of you are too.

Trick or Treat....

 This little doll wanted to dress up as the good witch for Halloween.  Can't blame her - who wants a green face and a wort on the nose? lol

She is ready for some trick or treating with her pumpkin bag.  The bag is made of osnaburg fabric and the pumpkin is wool felt.  I loved working on this little one.  Actually, she is not that little.  She is one of my bigger dolls - measuring 15 inches and with the hat 19 inches.   I've got her listed on Etsy.  

  Tomorrow is Friday and I think I'll take a day off.  It's so nice to be retired and your own boss!

Working on Snowmen

I'm feverishly working some items for the Fall craft show.  I finished five of these cute little snowmen. There are five more that just need their hats and they too will be done.  This is a very easy pattern and if anyone is interested it is a Country Whims pattern -  #485 - Mr. Ken D. Crane. 



Next I tackled some snowmen ornies which I've converted as ornaments.  These too were super easy.  I made twenty and will probably do another twenty soon.  Ornaments are always big sellers at craft shows.  This pattern is by Oodlekadoodle Primitives.

Here's a picture of a bed quilt that I FINALLY finished.  It is for my brother and sister-in-law.  I've only had this in the working stages for about FIVE years!  I feel bad I took this long to finish it, but I have a very understanding sister-in-law.  I love quilts and use to really get in to them, but I really now just love creating my dolls.  I guess you can say that I'm just the kind that loves to dapple into a lot of different things.  Hey, you gotta try it all - right?! 

And speaking of dolls - I almost have my Halloween doll finished.  She should get posted in a couple of days.

Cadence - You Pull on My Heartstrings

 When I start working on a doll I usually do not name them until I have drawn and painted their faces.  Then I get a feel for their personalities and pick a name.  Once I got a look at this sweet little face immediately my granddaughter, Cadence, came to my mind.  With her big brown eyes and that sweet little smile - what else could I name her but Cadence, a.k.a Cadie.

Cadie definitely pulls at our heartstrings!  And you might wonder "why don't you keep this doll?"  Because we have been blessed to have the REAL Cadie for many hugs and kisses!
